End of Cross Cultural Docu!
ITS DONE!
It turned out well. Thanks hugely to Athalia and Alec. It’s been really fun on my part! Learned new things here and there with the Orange students.
I think I too learned new things about my culture! Which was pretty cool. And I met new people who are excellent in what they are doing
Caught some photos doing batik painting which was so cool. I never knew how fun it could get really. Maybe I should do more docus… get to learn much more about everything I’m studying on.

Cloudy Little Days But There’s A Little Sun
There’s always something that pops out totally out of the blue and slams your happy emotions down the toilet. And it all takes is just a single word, a sentence, an intonation, even that persons face. So because I’m suppose to banish all these shit away, here are some happy photos to pass me by after a frustrating non-verbal argument that doesn’t EVEN involve me, but pisses me off nonetheless.
Wished I had a black kitty. They look so gorgeous. Bengal seems like a new cat-in-town. He came up to my doorstep and peeked in through the gate. After that, he was sidling along the staircase. Have not seen him again though. Hope he’s alright.

Of Many Angklungs and An Old Cemetery
Had a pretty cool shoot at the Madrasah Aljunied, interviewing a prolific malay composer/arranger/instrumentalist/ instructor, Dzul Rabull Jalil. I missed the music performance that the students he were teaching played on the angklung but from what I saw of the footage that Alec shot, the music was pretty awesome! And I was really happy that Athalia and Alec loved it!
Just by Victoria Street as we walked out after the interview, Alec notices the old clustered cemetery right behind the bus stop. He filmed some stuffs while Athalia and me watched him on the side, a little nervously I would say.
Mr-Adventure indeed. He said the cemetery is really interesting and was going to do a documentary just on that. Its a good idea actually cos’ probably in a few years, it won’t be there anymore.
Perhaps my initial fear was unfounded after all and it gives me a new perspective on life.

In the Morning
When I watch this MTV, it was like little bells in my ears, tingling grass on my feet, warm sunshine on my face, light breeze through my hair and all sorts of beautiful weather feelings that you get on a lovely morning. I love this video!
The bed looks really comfy too… oooh!

Q&A with Jared Leto
How would you like to be remembered?
I wouldn’t.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
That many things are not as big a deal as they seem in the moment.
What an interesting man… =)

It’s the new year! WCPark had never been so happening in a quiet way. It was really nice to spend a relaxing new years eve with the lovelies! As a seafarers tradition, the boats and ships sound the horns as it struck midnight and 2010 finally arrived. Yay! Everyone cheered all round, clapping, laughing, shooting illegal fire sticks “bunga api” that shoots into the sky and makes popping sounds. And then the ships shoot out flares into the sky that fell slowly down into the water (I think) and we watched it sink, entranced by its red glow. Kinda poetic really.
And I think it was at the yacht area that fireworks started exploding on the other side. We turned and clapped in happiness, cooing over the effects and sparkly things in the sky. It wasn’t really a major fireworks display but it was great! Well I guess applestar got to see what she wanted, minus the groping hehe! =B
So it was we simply lazed on the mats looking at the sky, daring ourselves to sleep on such a happy occasion. strangetea was about to sleep but with much protest from the others. The moon looked gorgeous however so it was really nice to lie down and watch the night sky. A couple of stars twinkling, one two and three stars I saw. Oh yes and kites! Lovely kites flying higher than the clouds! The only thing that showed it was there was the flashing lights attached to the kites. Miss Manis looked happy and that was nice to see. The kittens, my nephews and niece in this instance, were walking about, and then running back to us and doing slam dunks and roller doughs on Miss Manis. Heh.
And finally we ended the night with a game of Uno between the kitties, strangetea, applestar and me. Extremely exciting game with a final catch 22 game between arsyad and myself. Went home happy and sleepy. No rushing around from town back home. Brilliant!
& A Wedding
on Saturday. A secondary school friend and a member of the school band. First time I’ve seen her in years since the secondary school days. Brides are happy and smiling, taking pictures, lots of food and desserts, and I came at the right time as the groom arrives. Kuda kepang escorts them in and the traditional kompang. I used to hate weddings for no reason I guess… I just hated it. But I love them now. Lots of happy people around sharing the joy! I went to a previous relative’s wedding at Fort Canning and they had a beautiful kompang playing. So poignant and traditional! My god, I almost teared! =) A nice cup of tea to end it. applestar took pictures of everything as per usual and it was a happy day!
Happy New Year! 2010 & A Wedding

New Year’s Eve
It’s almost 2010 and I haven’t been thinking a lot about my goals for the new year. I haven’t felt like doing anything in particular. Just lay down and lie quietly, not thinking, not worrying, not talking, not wishing, not wanting, and just let everything flows by…
Perhaps a little self indulgence is needed.

Social Documentaries
It was a very interesting talk, although a little short. Perhaps I’m getting too used to the long guest speaker sessions in school. I got to the gallery midway while Libby Spears was screening shorts from her documentary Playground. Although I would say the subject is really tough to swallow without crying or feel sick to the core of your soul, I was glad that such a documentary is done to educate, expose and change hopefully the future of these children.
Libby Spears is a very nice lady, filmmaker, producer, director. I think motivated, committed and passionate should be added as well. She had spent almost 8 years on this project. Just looking at that number of years is enough to show her the respect she needs. But that’s not what she’s about I believe. I think her conviction to change what is happening shines through from her film and herself. I only got to speak with her briefly before it was time to leave and she seemed very sweet and kind. She was particularly enthusiastic that I am doing a producing program. Very cool woman. Awesome!

Clash of the Titans
I’m such a big fan of the old fantasy adventure film like Sinbad and the 1981 Clash of the Titans. I really hope this doesn’t disappoints. But I guess it can never replace the old feel of a Ray Harryhausen film. =)
